life's beautiful details

what do I tell myself? he hopes I don’t miss out on life’s beautiful details.

i tell myself who i am, who i’m striving to be.
i imagine to myself the places i’ll go. oh the places i’ll go.
i make promises to do better.
i think of what it would be like to go to new york tonight, just because i feel like it.
i taste innocence found only in a garden strawberry.
i question myself inside without letting it show on the outside.
i tell myself i’ll experience everything.
i tell myself to have patience.
i feel the rough lines of the willow tree trunk, the branches brushing my summer skin.
i think about the children i’ll have one day, if their hair will be curly, if their eyes blue.
i wonder what it would be like to be in the shoes of forester.
i tell myself to give my hands up to the souls who need them.
i hear the inaudible melody the sunlight makes dancing on the walls through the curtains.
i tell myself today is mine.

silly girl

tired like it's 1972.

her name is mary, sometimes peggy.

she has business with my husband and francis misses me.

one day she makes the shocking discovery that she's missing her tooth.

you tell her she's beautiful but she's heard that before.

silly girl in pink slippers.
